Death grows tired of collecting souls, especially on Christmas Eve. He is constantly being reminded that he is the bad guy, and one fateful night he finally gives up. Because he is no longer doing his duty (directing souls), Santa Claus slips into a coma after a freak sleigh-ride accident and his near-death soul is sent the wrong direction! Seven-year-old Julie Jones must then convince Mr. Death to go on a quest to bring Santa back to the land of the living and together they embark on a harrowing journey through the nine realms of the underworld in a Dante’s Inferno version of Hell.
